Users can set up Knowledge Assistant themselves, or they can be invited to Knowledge Assistant. To do this, see Invite Users to Knowledge Assistant.

This article explains how to set a phone number and Facebook account for Knowledge Assistant, how to set a preferred platform, and how to manage the types of interactions you'd like to have with Knowledge Assistant.
Access your Knowledge Assistant settings

Click the Account Details icon in the bottom left corner of the navigation bar. From the menu, select Account Settings.

On the Account Settings page, select Personal Settings.
- Scroll down to the Access Controls header and locate the Knowledge Assistant Settings section.
Set your phone number and Facebook account
You can use Knowledge Assistant with SMS messaging and/or Facebook Messenger. In order to use Knowledge Assistant, you'll need to set your phone number and/or connect to your Facebook account.
Note: Using Knowledge Assistant via SMS means that you are opting in to receive Knowledge Assistant messages from Yext. Messaging and data rates may apply.
- To enable Knowledge Assistant with SMS:
- Next to the Cell Phone field, click Add Number.
- Enter the phone number you would like to use to interact with the Knowledge Assistant.
- Select the checkbox to opt in.
- Click Verify Phone Number. You will receive a text message with a verification code.
- Enter the verification code in the dialog box and click Submit.
- We recommend that you save the Knowledge Assistant phone number as a contact in your phone to easily access it in the future.

To enable Knowledge Assistant with Facebook Messenger:
- Next to the Facebook Account field, click Link Facebook Account.
- Click the Send to Messenger popup.
- Enter the credentials for the Facebook account you would like to use with Knowledge Assistant and click Use Messenger.
Set your platform preference
If you have enabled both SMS and Messenger, you can choose a preferred platform for when Knowledge Assistant sends you notifications.
Note: In order to receive any notifications from Knowledge Assistant, you will either need to assign them to yourself, or someone on your team will need to assign them for you. See Assign Knowledge Assistant Notifications for steps.
- Click into the Platform Preference field.
- By default, the dropdown menu will say "Unspecified." Click into the menu and choose SMS or Facebook Messenger.
- Click Save.
Set your allowed interactions
Select the type of notifications you'd like to allow from Knowledge Assistant.
Note: In order to receive any notifications from Knowledge Assistant, you will either need to assign them to yourself, or someone on your team will need to assign them for you. See Assign Knowledge Assistant Notifications for steps.
- Click into the Allowed Interactions field.
- Select Allow or Do not allow accordingly for each notification type. By default, all notification types will be set to Allow.
- Click Save.
Manage opt-in for future interaction types
This setting is used for any other types of interactions that may be added to Knowledge Assistant in the future.
By default, users are opted in to future interaction types as they are added to Knowledge Assistant. If you opt out, you will need to manually opt in to any future interaction types when they are added.
To change this setting:
- Click into the Opt out of Future Interaction Types field.
- Select Yes to opt out, or No to remain opted in.
- Click Save.
