The Yext Knowledge Assistant can notify you of new reviews, Google Q&As, and upcoming holidays via SMS text message or Facebook Messenger and allow you to respond to a review, answer a question, or update your holiday hours right from your smartphone, without needing to log in. In order to set this up, you must assign a Primary Knowledge Assistant Contact to the desired entity and specify each type of notification you’d like to receive.
Assigning a Primary Knowledge Assistant Contact enables proactive messages to be sent to that user for selected fields. Users will not receive notifications until they set up Knowledge Assistant by connecting their phone number or Facebook account. To learn more, see Set Up Knowledge Assistant.
Note: Only one contact can be set per entity.
To assign a Primary Knowledge Assistant Contact:
- Click Knowledge Graph in the navigation bar and click Entities.
- Click on the desired entity.
- Select Knowledge Assistant in the left sidebar.
- Click on the Primary Contact field.
- Enter the first few letters of the user’s name or email address in the text box, and select from the list that appears.
- Click Save.
- Note: If the Primary Contact is registered for Knowledge Assistant, and has permission to access the entity, you will see a green checkmark next to Registered and Permissioned. Otherwise, you will need to take some additional steps to make sure the user is set up to be the Primary Knowledge Assistant Contact for the entity. Follow the steps below depending on the issue:
- Not Registered:
- Click on the Invite link. A dialog box appears.
- Click Invite to send an email invitation to the email address provided.
- Not Permissioned:
- Click on the Update Permission link. You will be taken to the user’s page in User Management.
- In the Role section, make sure that the user has access to manage the corresponding entity.
- Not Registered:
- Note: If the Primary Contact is registered for Knowledge Assistant, and has permission to access the entity, you will see a green checkmark next to Registered and Permissioned. Otherwise, you will need to take some additional steps to make sure the user is set up to be the Primary Knowledge Assistant Contact for the entity. Follow the steps below depending on the issue:
- To receive notifications to update holiday hours:
- Click on the Holiday Hours Confirmation field.
- Click Unspecified and select Yes.
- Click Save.
- To receive notifications of new reviews (and respond, if applicable):
- Click on the Review Response field.
- Click Unspecified and select Yes.
- Click Save.
- To receive Knowledge Nudge notifications:
- Click on the Knowledge Nudge field.
- Click Unspecified and select Yes.
- Click Save.
- To receive Google Q&A notifications:
- Click on the Questions and Answers field.
- Click Unspecified and select Yes.
- Click Save.
