Conversion Tracking enables you to track the clicks and conversions that can be attributed to your Listings, Pages, and Search experiences. When setting up Conversion Tracking, you can determine which customer actions constitute a conversion. Whether that is placing an order, booking an appointment, or clicking for driving directions.
This article outlines the steps needed to set up Conversion Tracking.
Step 1: Determine what you would like to track
Think about the goals of your customer journey. What actions are you driving your customers towards using Yext products?
- For Listings, consider tracking and assigning values to phone calls, and driving directions clicks.
- For Pages, consider tracking and assigning value to any goal or action you are promoting on your pages, such as: order now, signup, online checkout, apply, etc.
Step 2: Enable Click Tracking
Before you can track Listing Conversions or Tag-based Conversion Actions, you will need to complete this one-time step to turn Conversion Tracking on for each Yext product to enable the use of cookies when tracking Clicks preceding a Conversion event.
- Click Analytics in the navigation bar and click Conversion Tracking.
- Click Conversion Setup. For full details, see Enable Click Tracking.
Step 3: Create your Conversion Actions
Based on what actions you would like to track, you can create both Click-based and Tag-based conversions to attribute Clicks and Conversions to relevant actions in the customer journey.
- Click Analytics in the navigation bar and click Conversion Tracking.
- Click Conversion Setup. For full details, see Create a Conversion Action.
Step 4: Complete the Setup for Tag-based Conversion Actions
This step is necessary to enable Listings Conversion Tracking, as well as any Tag-based Conversion Actions. See the video below for more details on Tag-based Conversions.
- If you haven’t already, enable Click Tracking (Step 1 above). For full instructions, see Enable Click Tracking.
- Install your Conversion Tag
- Install Conversion Tags using a Tag Manager. For full instructions, see the help articles for Google Tag Manager, Adobe Launch, or another third-party tag manager.
- Manually add the tag to your website. For full instructions, see Install Conversion Tags Manually.
Step 5: Verify that Everything is set up Correctly
- Click Analytics in the navigation bar and click Conversion Tracking.
- Click Conversion Setup.
- Review the status of your Conversion Actions to ensure that everything is marked as Live.
- Note: Tag Found - No Click means your tag was successfully installed on a page but there are no clicks associated with that Conversion Tag. You will need to set up clicks to accept cookies before the Conversion Tag can begin to capture Conversions.
