This article explains the steps you can take in Yext to quickly update business information to reflect changes to service on short notice.
Edit your entities to reflect business changes
Any updates you make in Yext Content will be reflected on listings, as well as on any pages where you are using entity data.
- Review your Pages to ensure that your content is mapped correctly on your pages, and that the relevant changes in hours or service offerings are displayed on the page.
- Once an update is made in Content, the time it takes for the update to display on the listing can vary by publisher. We recommend looking at the Publisher Network for details on the expected update time for each publisher.
Short-term closure (one week or less)
For short-term adjustments, we recommend that you update your Holiday Hours for the affected locations.
When you do this, make sure that you leave your regular business hours as they are. You should only adjust the holiday hours to reflect the new hours for the specific day, or set of days, in question.
For full instructions on how to adjust holiday hours, visit the Add Holiday Hours help article.
Extended closure (more than one week)
If you are closing your business for more than one week, we recommend that you mark the affected locations as "Temporarily Closed." This allows you to set a reopen date.
If you don't know exactly when you plan to reopen, the reopen date can be adjusted as your plans change.
Some publishers do not support the Temporary Closed field. For these publishers, Yext will send holiday hours as "Closed" for the affected time period.
Permanent change in business hours
If you plan to operate under new hours for the foreseeable future, we recommend that you update your primary hours for the affected locations.
To do this:
-
Click Content in the navigation bar.
-
Select the entity or set of entities you want to edit.
-
Click on the Hours field and make any necessary adjustments.
Permanent closure
If you are permanently closing a location, follow the steps in Close a Location Permanently.
