Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to get started with the implementation process. If you do not already have Listings and/or Reviews, you can still purchase and use Scout, but the setup process might be more complex.
After signing your contract, Yext will assign your Scout licenses for you. After setup is complete, you can access Scout in the Yext console by clicking Scout in the sidebar, then click Map View.
User Permissions
Scout is accessible by default for users assigned to Full Control and Account Manager roles with a designated Scope of Account. If you want someone with access to only select location(s) to be able to use Scout, you can create a custom Scout role for them.
To create the role, do the following in the Yext platform:
- In Account Settings, under User Access Management, click Roles.
- In the upper right, click Add New Role.
- Create a Scout-centric Name and Description for the role, and click Add User Role.
- On the next page, configure the following permissions:
- In the Scout tab, check the Scout Scans > View option.
- In the Analytics tab, under General, check the Basic Analytics > View option.
- Click Save.
Note: Currently, both default and custom Scout permissions grant the user Scout access to all of your locations, regardless of the user’s other permissions.
To assign a user to the new Scout role, do the following:
- In Account Settings, under User Access Management, click Users.
- Click on the user you want to add access for, and next to Access Controls, click Add.
- Under Role, select the custom Scout role you created, make sure the Scope is Account, and click Save.
