Google Performance gives you one place to understand, measure, and improve how your brand shows up in Google Search and Google Maps. It brings keyword performance, competitor comparisons, and location-level metrics.
These Google metrics are available both in detail on the Google Performance page and as part of the overall Performance Summary and Win Rate calculations on the Scout Home page.
The Google Performance page is only available for customers with a paid Scout subscription.
On this page, there are three tabs at the top of the page that allow you to drill into specific views of your Google performance: Overview, Competitive Intelligence, and Location Performance.
What you can answer on this page:
- How am I ranking across Google and Google Maps search?
- How do I compare against local competitors?
- Which locations are winning, and which are falling behind?
- How are my location-specific metrics supporting or hurting my overall visibility?
Overview
On the Overview page, you can see how often you win against competitors across Google searches. A summary banner shows how many keywords Scout searched and how many competitors it identified for your locations over the selected time range, alongside your total unique searches. You will also see tiles for three key data points:
- Overall Google Win Rate: the percentage of Google searches where you ranked above competitors, shown with a trend indicator and a chart of recent movement.
- Overall Google Rank Distribution: shows what share of your locations fall into each rank range — Top 3, 4–10, 11–20, 21–40, and >40, with location counts for each.
- Performance By Keyword: a card for each tracked keyword showing location count, average win rate, average rank, and your top competitor for that keyword.
Competitive Performance
On the Competitive Performance page, you can see the average ranking position for your locations and competitors across Google searches. A lower score means higher rankings. A summary callout names your top competitive threat and how their position has moved. Below that:
- Google Rank Over Time: a line chart comparing your rank against a competitor over the selected range.
- Competitor table: ranks each competitor by average Google Rank, with the change since the last period.
Location Performance
On the Location Performance page, you can see how each location performs against local benchmarks and where you stand against nearby competitors. A callout highlights your single biggest gap and biggest strength across all tracked metrics. You can search for a specific location, filter the table by rank bucket, and filter by metric to see how each location compares to the benchmark. Each metric is marked as "ahead by X" or "behind by X" based on your performance.
To view all metrics for a single location, click the location name in the left column. This only shows metrics for the selected location against local competitors.
You can also filter the table by metric, allowing you to only view the metrics that are most applicable to you. Previously, the table showed all metrics, which made it very large and more difficult to read. To filter by metric, click the View drop-down above the table and select or deselect metrics as desired. Then, click Apply.
