If your account uses multiple locales, Yext Reviews pulls in and displays reviews based on the language profiles configured on your entities in the Knowledge Graph. This article explains how language affects review monitoring and what to expect when managing reviews across multiple languages.
How Language Profiles Affect Reviews
Each entity in Yext can have language profiles that store localized versions of your business data. Reviews are associated with the entity itself rather than a specific language profile, so all reviews for an entity appear in Reviews > Monitoring regardless of the language they were written in.
The language of a review is identified by Sentiment Analysis and displayed in the Language column in the monitoring table. You can filter by language using the Languages advanced filter to focus on reviews in a specific language.
For information on setting up language profiles on entities, see Create an Alternate Language Profile on an Entity.
Responding to Reviews in Multiple Languages
When responding to a review, you can write your response in any language. If you use generative review response, add an instruction in Reviews > Configuration > Generative Response to control the response language — for example, "Respond in the same language as the review" or "Respond in French." Without an instruction, responses are generated in English by default.
If you use templated review response, create separate assets for each language and assign a language to each asset. Assets with a language assigned are only available when responding to reviews identified as that language. Assets without a language assigned are available for all reviews.
For more on generative response instructions, see Generative Review Response. For more on templated response assets, see Templated Review Response.
Review Generation and Multiple Languages
When sending review generation invitations, you can select the language for default email templates when sending a single invite. Default review generation templates are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Japanese.
For bulk uploads, pass the ISO language code in the language column of your upload file to send the invitation in that language. Note that this applies to default templates only — custom templates must include localized content in the template HTML directly.
For more on configuring templates, see Review Generation Templates. For more on sending invitations in bulk, see Send Review Invitations.
