Reviews Competitive Intelligence lets you track the star ratings of nearby competitors on Google, Facebook, and TripAdvisor. Understanding how your ratings compare to competitors in the same area gives important context — a 3.5-star rating means something different if your nearest competitors average 2.5 stars versus 4.5 stars.
How It Works
For each of your location entities, Yext tracks up to five named competitors. For each competitor, Yext finds the competitor location closest to your location and pulls that location's star rating. The competitor average rating shown in analytics reflects only the locations nearest to yours — not the competitor's overall brand average.
Note: The competitors you set up for Reviews Competitive Intelligence are the same competitors used in the Search Tracker. Review data is pulled directly from Google, Facebook, and TripAdvisor and is not shared between Yext accounts.
After you add competitors, Yext begins pulling their review ratings. Allow up to two weeks for historical data to backfill. Yext scans for updated competitor data every three months.
Add Competitors
You can add competitors to individual entities or in bulk.
For a single entity:
- Navigate to Knowledge Graph > Entities and open the entity you want to update.
- Scroll to the Competitors section.
- Enter the competitor name and website for each competitor. The website does not need to be a location-specific URL — the corporate website is sufficient, for example www.competitor.com.
- Click Save.
In bulk:
Select multiple entities from the Entities screen, click More Actions, and use the entity upload or bulk edit options to add competitor fields across entities at once.

In Report Builder
To compare your entities to competitors, navigate to Analytics > Report Builder and use the following metrics:
- Your brand: Reviews and Average Rating
- Competitors: Rolling Review Volume and Rolling Average Rating
Dimension by entity to compare each location's metrics against its nearest competitor locations. To see competitors' average ratings by publisher, use the Rolling Average Rating metric with the Sites (Reviews) dimension.
