Geomodifiers are location names commonly appended to a business name to distinguish individual locations. For example:
- Galaxy Grill NYC
- Galaxy Grill (NYC)
- Galaxy Grill of NYC
- Galaxy Grill: NYC

Geomodifiers are typically a city, region, shopping center, mall, or other location descriptor, and are set independently per location.
How to Use Geomodifiers in Yext
Do not include a geomodifier directly in the Name field on location entities. Many publishers, including Google and Apple, do not accept geomodifiers in the business name and may suspend listings that violate their naming guidelines.
Instead, use the built-in Business Details > Geomodifier field, which is automatically included on location entity types. Yext uses this field to sync the geomodifier only to publishers that support it.
Neighborhoods
For accounts that need to distinguish multiple locations in the same city, the built-in Business Details > Neighborhood field can be used to capture neighborhood-level detail.
Neighborhood data does not sync to listings or any publishers. It is used for internal purposes only, such as data organization or use on Pages.
