Creating an Email Template
To send an email or include an email in a campaign, you must first create an email template. Email templates are highly customizable and allow you to create high-quality, branded emails using a visual editor.
To get started, do the following:
- Click the Email Library tab, then click Add Email to Library.
- You can also use an existing email template by clicking the three dot menu on an email and selecting Duplicate.
- Fill in basic information about the email, then click Next: Sending rules.
- Email name - this is visible only in the Yext platform
- Email Description - add a quick internal description about the email template
- Email Subject Line - what your recipients see in their inbox
- Entity Targeting - configure which entities the email can be sent on behalf of
- Email Tags -oOrganize your emails using tags your admin has set up for you
- Expiration - add a date and time (with timezone) the email will no longer be available to send
- Configure your Sending Rules, then click Add Email,
- Subscription type - the category recipients see on their ‘Manage email preferences page’, such as Monthly Newsletter. Recipients who have opted out of this category won't get this email. You can leave this blank for now but you will be prompted to select a category before sending the email for approval.
- How often can one person get it?
- Once per recipient - a contact receives this email only once, even if it is sent to them again. This is good for a limited-time promotion or time-sensitive announcement. If the email is edited and approved again, past recipients would become eligible to receive the new version.
- More than once - a contact receives this email every time it is sent to them. This is good for recurring updates, reminders, or anything a person can trigger again.
- In the editor, select your building blocks for your email and edit the content inside. See Using the Email Editor for more information about how to build your template.
- Optionally, send a test email to yourself to see how it looks.
- Click Send for Approval. If you didn’t select a Subscription Type, you are prompted to select one before sending for approval.
When your email template is approved by your compliance team, you can start sending it to contacts on behalf of your entities.
