Verify a Single Google Business Profile Listing

Locations must be verified by Google in order to publish listings to Google Search and Maps. Once you've linked your Google Business Profile account with Yext, you can request verification directly from the Yext platform. Locations can be verified with Google individually or in bulk. This article outlines the steps to request verification for a single location. To set up your account for bulk verification, see Bulk Verification for Google Business Profile (GBP).

To verify a Google Business Profile listing in Yext:

  1. Click Listings in the navigation bar and click Publishers.
  2. Click on Google Business Profile in the list of publishers.
  3. Click Verify Listing to the right of the desired listing.
  4. In the new tab that opens, select your preferred verification method. Verification methods can differ by location and are controlled by Google.
    • Email
      • Your verification code will be sent to the email address listed in the platform. 
    • Text Message
      • Your verification code will be sent via text message to the phone number on your listing.
    • Phone Call
      • You will receive a phone call with your verification code at the business phone number on your listing.
    • Postcard Mailing
      • Google will mail a postcard to your business location. It should arrive in 1-2 weeks.
      • To change the name of the recipient, click Edit next to the recipient name.
    • Video
      • Video verification must be completed in Google Business Profile. Note that Google does not support video verification via API.
      • Click Launch and log into your Google Business Profile account. You will be directed to the video verification page in Google.
      • Once you have completed the video verification steps in Google Business Profile, navigate back to the page in Yext and click Save.
  5. Click Send Code.
  6. When you receive your code, enter it in the text box and click Continue.
    • If you are receiving the code via postcard, click on the Skip Verification link and click Save.
    • Once you have received your verification code, follow steps 1-3 above, then select I Have a Code. Enter your verification code and click Continue.
