Overview
The Yext MCP gives you natural-language access to your Yext data directly inside the AI tools you already use. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Copilot and ask questions in plain language: no code required, no dashboards to build.
The Yext MCP covers four capability areas:
- Knowledge Graph: View, create, and update entities and other business data
- Reviews: Monitor and respond to customer reviews across your locations
- Scout: Visibility intelligence across search and AI surfaces
- Account Tools: Navigate your account hierarchy and work across sub-accounts (Partner and multi-account customers)
You must have a subscription to a given product to use MCP functionality for that product.
The Yext MCP supports both read and write operations. Read capabilities are available across all five product areas. Write capabilities are available for Knowledge Graph, which lets you create and edit entities, and for Reviews, which lets you respond to reviews. Scout is read-only.
Write functionality is on by default for all accounts. If you'd prefer to restrict your account to read-only access, navigate to Account Settings, click on Account Features, and toggle Allow User MCP Writes to Off.
How It Works
Once connected, the Yext MCP works directly within your AI assistant. When you ask a question, the assistant retrieves real data from your Yext account and incorporates it into its response.
Because responses are grounded in your actual Yext data, they reflect your real locations, metrics, reviews, and content. You can ask follow-up questions, request different views, and work through analysis in a conversational way without switching applications.
For customers who also use the Yext APIs, the MCP and API draw from the same underlying data. The MCP is best for exploration, summaries, and quick answers, and the API is best for building structured product experiences, powering dashboards, or automating data workflows at scale.
How to Get Access
Directions for connecting the Yext MCP to your model of choice will depend on which model you are using. Visit the Yext API & MCP Overview and Setup help article for steps to connect with each provider.
You must have a subscription to a given product to use MCP functionality for that product.
Disclaimer: Validate Before You Start
The Yext MCP connects AI models to real data from your Yext account, but AI-generated responses can still contain errors, omissions, or unsupported conclusions.
After receiving an answer, it's worth checking that the response is actually grounded in your Yext data. If an answer includes details that don't look familiar or seem to go beyond what Yext tracks, it may have been generated by the AI rather than pulled from a real data source.
The Yext MCP is designed to accelerate analysis and discovery, not replace human judgment. You are responsible for validating the accuracy and appropriateness of any content generated through the MCP before using it in business decisions, stakeholder communications, or deliverables.
If you're unsure whether a response is grounded in real data, you can ask the AI assistant which Yext data it used to generate the answer. You can also cross-check the response against our API documentation for additional information on what data is available.
Knowledge Graph
Key Use Cases
View, create, and update your business data conversationally. The Knowledge Graph is the foundation of your Yext account. It contains your locations, people, events, menus, and any other entities you manage. The MCP gives you direct access to that data without requiring you to navigate the platform.
With the Knowledge Graph tools, you can:
- Look up any entity in your account
- Create new entities or update existing ones, including hours, descriptions, photos, and custom fields
- Retrieve field schemas to understand what data is available for each entity type
- Scope queries to specific sub-accounts for Partners and multi-account workflows
Example Prompts
- "Show me all location entities in my account."
- "Update the holiday hours for all my NYC locations."
- "What fields are available on the location entity type?"
- "Create a new location entity for our Austin store."
- "Find the entity for our downtown Chicago location and show me its current description."
- "Which locations are missing a business description?"
Reviews
Key Use Cases
Monitor and respond to customer reviews directly from your AI assistant. Instead of logging into a platform to work through your review queue, you can pull up the reviews that need attention and respond without leaving the conversation.
With the Reviews tools, you can:
- Pull up reviews across your locations, filtered by date, rating, entity, or response status
- Identify reviews that are still waiting for a response
- Post responses to individual reviews
Example Prompts
- "Show me all 1-star reviews from the last 30 days that haven't been responded to."
- "Which locations have the most unanswered negative reviews right now?"
- "What are customers saying about our parking across all locations?"
- "Respond to this review, thanking the customer and addressing their concern."
- "How many reviews did we receive last month, and what was our average rating?"
- "Show me all reviews mentioning wait times across our restaurant locations."
Scout
Key Use Cases
Understand your brand's visibility across search and AI surfaces and know where to take action. Scout tracks how your locations perform on Google Maps and across AI models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. The MCP gives you conversational access to that intelligence.
With the Scout tools, you can:
- Analyze win rate, rank, and trend direction across markets and locations
- See how your brand appears across AI models, including rank, share of voice, citation sources, and sentiment
- Identify which competitors are outranking you and where the gaps are widest
- Surface your highest and lowest performing locations
- Understand which digital presence gaps across reviews, listings, pages, social correlate with weaker visibility
- Access prioritized, signal-based recommended actions by location

Account Tools
Navigate your account hierarchy and work across sub-accounts. This capability is most relevant for Partners and enterprise customers managing multiple accounts.
With the Account tools, you can:
- List your account and any sub-accounts you have access to
- Scope other MCP operations like Scout, Reviews, and Knowledge Graph to a specific sub-account
Example Prompts
- "Show me data for my West Coast sub-account."
- "List all accounts under a specific brand or Partner account."
-
"Which of my sub-accounts have the most locations?"
