Notifications keep you and your team updated on account activity, such as analytics reports, new reviews, listing updates, and suggested content edits. Yext delivers notifications by email, within the platform, or as mobile push notifications.
Setting up notifications helps you:
- Stay informed of important updates and changes
- Engage users in the platform
- Update stakeholders who don't log into Yext, since you can send notifications to any email address, whether or not the recipient has a Yext account
Notifications only show data for the entities and features the recipient has access to. For example, if you send a weekly analytics dashboard notification to all users, a user with access to only one location sees data for that location alone.
Set Up a Notification
You can set up a notification in two ways:
From Account Settings:
- Click the user icon at the bottom of the navigation bar and select Account Settings.
- Click Notifications in the Account Configuration section.
- Click + Add Custom Notification.
- Select a product area and configure the notification content.

From a product page:
Most product pages include a bell icon or a Notifications option in the settings dropdown menu. Clicking it opens the Notifications screen with that product area already selected, so you can skip the product-selection step.
For steps on configuring a specific notification type, see:
- Create Reviews Notifications
- Create Listings Notifications
- Create Analytics Notifications
- Create Knowledge Graph Notifications
- Create Platform Usage Notifications
- Set Up Mobile Push Notifications
- Access and Set Up In-Platform Notifications
View and Manage Your Notifications
Go to Account Settings > Notifications to see a table of the notifications set up in your account. From this table, you can edit notification settings and delivery preferences.
You can see any notification you created or are a recipient of. To see every notification profile in the account, you need the Account Manager or Full Control role; users with other roles only see notifications they created or receive.
Notification Use Cases
Notifications are flexible enough to support a range of use cases, depending on who needs to see what and how often.
Reviews:
- Send a notification for new reviews and updates as they come in to your Customer Care team, so they can respond quickly through the right channels.
- Send review notifications filtered to negative ratings to regional managers, so they can spot underperforming locations.
- Filter notifications to a specific keyword. For example, if you're rolling out a new menu item, send reviews mentioning that item to the team responsible for it.
Analytics:
- Send different dashboards to different audiences. For example, send a high-level executive dashboard monthly, and more detailed location-level reports to store managers or franchise owners weekly.
- Since notifications can go to any email address, you can update stakeholders who don't have Yext accounts, such as franchise owners or external partners.
