When you send communication from Yext to your customers (for example, review invites), they will come from a yext.com email address by default. You can customize this with your own email domain and other information by setting up your email branding in Yext.
This article will walk you through the process of adding your email domain in Yext, retrieving the hosting information for the domain, and setting up CNAME records with your DNS provider so that Yext can send emails using your domain. You'll also learn how to customize the name, full email address, reply-to, and footer information for these emails.
Add your email domain in Yext
In order for Yext to send emails using your business's domain, you must add CNAME records to your DNS provider that give Yext domain-level email authorization.
- Click on the Account Details icon in the bottom left corner of the navigation bar and select Account Settings.
- Click Email Branding.
-
On the Email Branding page, click the Add an Email Domain button.
-
Enter your email domain. This should be the same email domain that sends your other marketing communication. Click Submit.
- A modal will appear with information you'll need in order to set up a CNAME record in your DNS provider. You'll need the information in the Host and Value columns.
-
Click Close after you have copied the relevant information. You'll see that your domain has been added with a "Not Verified" status.
-
You can always find these values later by clicking Click to Verify next to your domain status.

Create a CNAME record in your DNS provider
We recommend looping in your IT team or system administrator for assistance on these steps.
- Log into your domain provider and locate the DNS or advanced DNS settings.
- Add the CNAME records by pasting in the Host and Value information you copied from Yext.
The specific instructions will vary based on your provider, so you should check with your DNS provider for details on how to format the DNS records for their system. You can also find instructions here for the following providers:
When the CNAME record is complete, you will see your domain's status update to Verified on the Email Branding page in Yext. Note that depending on your provider, updating DNS settings can take up to 48 hours to complete.
Customize your email fields
Once the CNAME record has been created and Yext is authorized to send emails from your domain, navigate back to Email Branding to customize your email settings.
- From Name: The name the customer will see in their inbox when they receive the email. Enter the desired display name and click Save.
- From Email: The specific email address that the email will come from. Enter the desired email address, and set your email domain by clicking on the the Select Domain dropdown. Then, click Save.
- Reply-to: The email address that a customer's reply will be sent to if they choose to reply to the email. If you want replies to go to the same address that the email was sent from, leave this blank. Otherwise, enter your desired reply-to email and click Save.
- Footer Name and Address: Your business's information that will appear in the footer of the email. This is a best practice for marketing communication in order to comply with email regulations such as CAN-SPAM, CCPA, and GDPR. Enter your business's information and click Save.
