This article explains how to create custom entity types in the Knowledge Graph. Custom entity types allow you to store additional objects related to your brand in Yext. You can then configure which fields should appear on your new entity type.
Note: Custom entity types require a subscription. For more information on adding services to custom entities, reach out to your Client Success Manager.
Before you start
Custom entity types cannot sync to Listings. They are also not compatible with all third-party integrations.
For this reason, we recommend using built-in entity types whenever possible.
Create a custom entity type
- Navigate to Knowledge Graph > Configuration and click the Entity Types tile.
-
Click Add Custom Entity Type.
-
Enter the information for your entity type.
- Entity Type Name
- ID: this will be automatically set based on the name, but you can modify it if desired.
- Plural Entity Type Name: this is how multiple entities of this type will be referred to throughout the Knowledge Graph.
-
Description (optional)
- If you're using alternate language profiles, add translations to your custom entity type. Click Add translation on the Name, Plural Name, or Description setting.
- Choose your desired language and enter the translated value. Click Save or Save & Add Another to add another translation to the same setting.
- When finished, click Create Custom Entity Type in the lower right.
- To add fields to your new entity type and customize the field presentation, see Edit the Field Configuration on an Entity Type.
