Custom fields can be used to add additional information to the entities in your account for internal use, as well as to power content on your Pages and Search experiences. Custom field types allow you to group these custom fields together, so they can be displayed or edited together in Yext Content. This article explains how to create custom field types. To create individual custom fields, see Add Custom Fields.
To add a custom field type:
- Click Content in the navigation bar and click Configuration.
- Click Field Types.
- Click on the Add Custom Field Type button.

Enter a name for the custom field type.
- To add a translation to the Custom Field Type Name, or any of the eligible text fields, click on the + Add Translation link. A dialog box appears. Select the language of the translation from the drop-down menu, and enter the translation into the text box. Then click Save or Save & Add Another.

(Optional) Enter a description.
- To add a translation for the Custom Field description, click on the + Add Translation link and follow the steps to add translations for the desired languages.
- Click + Add a subfield.
- Click Select Field Type and select the type of subfield you would like to add.

(Optional) Adjust the Subfield Label.
- To add a translation for the Custom Field description, click on the + Add Translation link and follow the steps to add translations for the desired languages.
- If applicable, click Modify to adjust the validations for the field, then click Apply.

Select the appropriate check boxes to adjust the settings for the subfield.
- If you select Make it a list, click on the Modify link under VALIDATION - LIST to adjust the list validation, then click Apply.
- Click + Add a subfield to add additional subfields.
- Click Save.
