Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to get started with the implementation process. If you do not already have Listings and/or Reviews, you can still purchase and use Scout, but the setup process might be more complex.
After signing your contract, Yext will assign your Scout licenses for you. After setup is complete, you can access Scout in the Yext console by clicking Scout in the sidebar, then click Home.
User Permissions
Scout access is governed by your Yext user roles. By default, users assigned to Full Control or Account Manager roles have access to Scout data for the entire account.
If you want to grant access to specific individuals—such as franchisees, local managers, or partners—you can use entity-level permissions to ensure they only see the locations they are explicitly permitted to manage.
To create a scoped Scout role:
In Account Settings, under User Access Management, click Roles.
Click Add New Role (or edit an existing role).
Ensure the following permissions are enabled:
Scout: Check the View Scout Scans option.
Analytics: Under General, check the Basic Analytics > View option.
Click Save.
To assign a user to a scoped role:
In Account Settings, under User Access Management, click Users.
Select the user you want to manage and, next to Access Controls, click Add.
Under Role, select your Scout-enabled role.
Under Scope, select the specific Folder or Entity the user should be allowed to view.
Click Save.
Once saved, the user’s Scout experience—including the Home Dashboard, Map View, and Visibility Reports—will automatically recalculate to reflect only their permitted locations.
